Multi-day Adventures
As well as single day tours I have run a number of successful multi-day tours for private clients and a series of tour companies.
Multi-day tours are perfectly suited to those visiting California or the West Coast for the first time. To get the most out of birding Los Angeles and the surrounds I usually recommend four full days of guided birding based out of Pasadena, California. This allows us to include a coastal and urban birding day, a mountain birding day, a California Condor day and a desert day.
These four days can all be run out of a hotel or Airbnb based close to my home and I’m happy to recommend places to stay that suit all budgets.
If one of these days doesn’t take your fancy there are lots of other options: a run to the Salton Sea for Yellow-footed Gull, a trip out to the Channel Islands for Island Scrub-Jay and more. Of course these extra days (and more) can be added to a four day tour to create a more exhaustive California birding adventure.

Multi-day trips based out of Pasadena covers pick up, drop off and permit fees and includes participation of up to three birders. Tours that involve staying outside of the Pasadena area will include additional costs including covering hotel and meal costs for the guide etc.
